National Geographic Magazine Cover

All of these magazine covers have their own story behind them. They all express emotions, some with a smile and some with no emotion. The first image really caught my attention because of the really big smile that the lady, it also shows the beautiful culture. It looks like she is sitting proudly. It is true when people say pictures speak a thousand words, the image in the middle shows how they are trying to bring awareness to something or trying to get a readers attention. The emotion of the kid was looks sad it shows how the child feels. The last image shows a lady expressing how she feels it might be an image of her in her happy place. She is expressing herself through what she loves because you can see how at peace she feels. This is why these images really caught my attention and why I really liked them.

Silhouette Story

Article Read and Write

Silhouetting is a type of photography that people use to add glamour and intensity to many everyday photographs – this can include still life, vacation pictures and even family photographs. Handled properly, the technique will inject excitement and drama into standard photographs. The technique is pretty amazing and very simple to do. A silhouette is an overall form of a subject, black shapes are the subjects which stands out against a brightly lit background. Like a black and white image. It leads for the audience to have their own interoperation of the story line because emotion can not be shown. For these images it important that the photographer has distraction free back ground, which i s why many silhouettes are taken against the sky. Silhouetting photography an amazing photography style that is used by many.

Cultural Identity Photographs

Cultural Photography: Read and Response

Culture is important to everyone, it give you a an identity. Culture can mean many things such as the way of life including art, beliefs and institution. Culture can also be passed down from generation to generation, it is sorta a way of life for an entire society. The way a person acts, their different beliefs, and characteristics can be because of their culture. Some people express their culture differently then others, some people take their culture seriously and keep with their traditions and the way of life they were passes down while some do not really care for their culture and would rather make their own ways on how they go about their life. The mot common way people express their culture would be through their clothes, their style, they shoes, the jewelry, their language, and even their makeup.

When capturing cultural photography it is emotion is an important thing to capture especially if you were using this cultural photography to bring awareness for their culture. When taking cultural photography, you must find a way to describe your work. It is a complex human dilemma that societies have wrangled with since the dawn of time. Throughout the photography, people give their own point of view and they try to express their projects from their own point of view. People also may use it to give appriciation for their culture.

Cultural photography is very interesting and it is something that most of us can relate to. It is a way to learn something new or to even explore new cultures. We always capture moments with our camera some of which are very distinct to our own culture.

Multiple Exposure With Flash and Slow Shutter Speed

  • You must have a darken room that is important for these images.
  • Your subject has to be against a black background.
  • Having enough background area for the number of different exposures.
  • Making sure that you set up an electronic flashlight so that you have illumination for the photos.
  • Turn off all room lights and make your first exposure. Then, without advancing the film, move your subject to the next position for the second exposure. Repeat this procedure for each image you want to record on the film.
  • Conducted tests before shooting in large, indoor areas, such as gymnasiums and hangar bays or outdoors at night, to determine which flash, camera, and film combination produces optimum results.
  • At night a single on-camera flash produces stark lighting, and your subject is flatly lit and the background goes completely black.

Work in the Style of Sandy Skoglund

Sandy Skoglunds work is very unique. She is an American photographer and installation artist. For her photography she creates surrealist images by building elaborate sets or tableaux, furnishing them with carefully selected colored furniture and other objects, a process of which takes her months to complete. It takes a while and she does all the work for her own images. I really like how she takes two very different things and put them in one image together it is very nice and I feel that it is a cool way of taking photos.

Work In The Style of Wassily Kandinsky

Wassily Kandinsky was a painter and theorist. He was born in Moscow on December 16, 1866 and died and he had spent his childhood in Odessa, Russia which is where he had attended art school. He passed away on December 13, 1944. His style was very unique and colorful, his paintings were all over the place, different shapes, colors and direction. He believed that geometric forms, lines, and colors could express the inner life of the artist. It is interesting to look at his paintings because they are nice but very difficult to understand.

Motion Blur

  • You can shoot trains to get a motion blur image, because it is a object that is moving any moving objects will work.
  • You have to make sure you are using a Tripod, because the camera will be completely still your shot will be better and only capture the moving object.
  • Working with longer shutter speed time will allow you to create an effect over moving objects.
  • You can position your camera on or off the moving object or equipment, this will allow you to get different types of effects.
  • You can also the slow sync flash technic, this is when you use flash or you use a slow shutter speed to shoot.

Ted Talk: Impossible Photography

Erik Johansson is a photography and is speaking in a Ted Talk about Impossible Photography. He take photos but these are special photography. He became intrested in photography when he was only 15, and he had got himself his first digital camera. He was also intrested in drawing he compared the two but calls them a bit different from each other. He felt that photograpghy was about being in the right place at the right time. Which was smething he did not like about photograpghy, once yu clicked the trigger button was clicked the moment had ended.

Johansson wanted to create something different, something where the process starts when you press the trigger button. He wanted the photos to be real in the moment, something he calls photo-realism. He wanted photos that were both dark and colorful. He was able to achieve this and he had called it photo-realism and he would create the illusion. And it is a trick of what makes it realistic. This was a really interesting Ted talk and learning about the way that he had to go through the process of what he was able to get a perfect image and idea of what he wanted. It really inspired me.

HDR Photography

I really like taking images of landscape because I feel like the outside has so much to give and it is really beautiful. I thought it was really cool that I had went out to take photos outside in five different exposures. I then went back inside the class and uploaded my images onto photoshop, and it was really cool that there was already an option to make HRD images. On photoshop the HDR created the best image with equal exposure throughout the whole image. I then added clouds to my photo and also adjusted the saturation in my image, this made a difference and my made image stand out more especially when I had added the clouds. I really enjoy taking landscape photography and I now know how I can make my image appear better.

Fill Flash Outside

Fill flash is an important factor for photographers. Fill flash is a technique that photographers use to brighten deep shadowed areas, especially on gray days or extremely sunny sessions, fill flash adds light to deep shadows cast harsh lighting. You can use fill light whenever the background is brighter than the main subject of the photo. Fill flash is a supplementary light source that can reduce harsh ambient light. Fill flash is typically used when you may have a well-exposed background; however, your main subject may appear dull or underexposed. Fill flash is used in many instances such as; wedding photos, portraits, or even taking photos of objects. This makes your photos appear better and in more light, as if they are standing out. You attach a flash onto your camera and make sure it is at ETTL and making your settings at AV. This is how you are able take photos with flash in a bright area and make your object appear perfectly lit up.

For sports photography it would be an easy apply, I would also be earning $20 to $25 an hour which is really good, I would also need some photography experience for this job. For the wedding photography, I would need a portfolio of the weddings you’ve shot, that you can submit, drivers license and your own vehicle, and be available on weekends I would also make $50 an hour. My Favorite Teacher

My favorite teacher would have to be Mrs. Cauchon. I have had Mrs. Cauchon for 2 years, I had her during the pandemic when we were online and I also had her in person this year. She has helped me learn so much about photography, such as how to use a camera which I was always confused with and scared of. When we were online in school, she was really understanding with the time span of assignments, she is also very attentive and will come to you to help you and she would also critique our photos to make sure our photos were the best they could be and she would even help us make it better or give suggestions. make our pictures better. and also made it fun having us interact with other students which was really nice instead of just sitting in class she was very interactive. Mrs. Cauchon has been really understanding of everything she also gives us many opportunity’s to get help or raise our grades up which I am really grateful for.

Portrait Photography

When taking portraits f people it is important t create a god bond with them so that the photo’s can turn out great. A As a photographer it is important to understand who you’re taking portrait of. casual, friendly, assured, and funny demeanor. Perhaps these qualities, in the context of creating a portrait, are what make his work so intriguing.
Gregory Heisler is a portrait photographer, his talent for lighting, as well as his versatility and prolificacy, is remarkable and his list of subjects and clients is too monumental and varied to prioritize here. Heisters favorite camera is the TS-E 24mm f/3.5L II is another popular choice for discerning architectural and landscape photographers, this lens also has a wide image circle of 67.2mm to permit extensive perspective adjustments. When taking portraits it is important to get the right angles for your client so they can be happy with the the photo of themselves and also it helps your image as a photographer.

Here are some of Gregory Heisler work:

Traveling photography is important because it one of the way that we can see the world if we can not experience it in person. Travel photography is one of the more unique genres because it can be so general. It can encompass landscape, portrait, still life, action photography, and so on, with the understanding that these subjects inform a sense of place or location. There could be challenges that photographers face while taking photos while traveling. This is the job of many people, they go around the world and take photos of places that they have travels to. Photographer Randy Kerr has traveled to 30 countries. When Kerr travels he uses two different types digital bodies, “a Canon EOS 5D Mark III and a smaller APS-C body… my standard grab-shot lens is the EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM, and I’ll have the EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM handy for longer-range subjects. I always have fast 35mm and 50mm primes with me, too, for low-light and selective-depth-of-field portrait opportunities… if wildlife opportunities will be available, I’ll augment my basic kit with my Canon EF 500mm f/4L IS II USM and Extender EF 1.4x III teleconverter.”

Tips for Better Compositions

Good composition is a key to having a great photo.

  1. Having a focus point when taking a photo is important, this will lead to your photo having good composition. This means when you are taking a photo you have a main point that you will be focusing on, with this you can build around the image.

Raw VS JPEG Capture

Raw and JPEG are both very different files for saving photos. When an image is captured in a digital camera, it is recorded as raw data. If the camera format is set to JPEG, this raw data is processed and compressed before it is saved in the JPEG format. If the camera format is set to raw, no processing is applied, and therefore the file stores more tonal and color data. We can look at a raw file like it contains the ingredients to make a specific meal that you can prepare how you’d like, whereas a JPEG is that meal has already been cooked, and there is less flexibility in how you can modify it.

In Raw photos you are able to correct your exposure problems. However in JPEG you are able to control the noise reduction, it can be more effectively applied to a raw file than a JPEG.  The JPEG processing applied by the camera is designed to produce an image that looks good right out of the camera, however this processing cannot be undone. A raw file, on the other hand, is processed by you; so you can decide how the image will look like you are able t edit n image. In Lightroom, any changes you apply to a raw file can be modified at any time, allowing for maximum creative flexibility when you process the file. This flexibility, along with the possibility to significantly improve less-than-ideal exposures, are the main benefits of shooting in raw

Camera Experiences

What I Learned About Camera Exposure and Camera Modes.

When using the camera you can underexpose and overexpose. In photography, it is important to understand the exposure settings of aperture, shutter speed and ISO speed are analogous to the width, time and quantity discussed above. These qualities are important so that you can have the perfect photo. The aperture controls the how much light enters your camera. The shutter speed controls how long the exposure is. Finally the IS speed controls the sensitivity of your camera, so it only allows a certain amount of light. All of these setting are important qualities that affect your picture quality, so that your photo can come out the best it can.
